ALMODOVAR DRESSES UP IN PRADA

There are unions that are unavoidable. That of the Spanish director Pedro Almovodar and the Italian firm Prada, although nobody expected it, had to happen sooner or later. And it has happened now, in the advertising campaign for the brand's Autumn-Winter 2017 men's collection.  bacobolts.yictic

Photographed by Willy Vanderperre, Almodóvar poses in some of Prada's new men's looks in a setting that could well belong to one of his films. Costumbrismo, a certain kitsch point, symbolic expressiveness and, at the same time, all possible aesthetic modernity are woven into the images; shared by Prada through his Instagram. There are photographs, and also a short video.

Pedro Almodóvar, the mastermind behind the seminal films Matador, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, All About My Mother, and Bad Education has been selected as the face of Prada's fall / winter 2017 menswear line, fittingly titled Auteur.  construction-bolts.tockhop

The legendary Spanish film direct and writer has always maintained a distinctive look and a phenomenal eye for style; his films are testaments to his innate genius for color, pattern, texture, and form. In an era when moviemaking has gone cookiecutter, Pedro Almodóvar continues to break the mold.

How is it that had not happened before? This question assails us when we contemplate the photos: in them, everything fits. Art is just as present in the filmmaker's work as in Miuccia Prada's designs. Art always appears in Almodovarian cinema; art sits at the base of Prada's work. techqueer

Almodóvar has been selected as the star of the newest chapter in Prada's 365 series shot by Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre shot the campaign inside the company's headquarters, designed by architecture studio OMA.

Prada released a 33-second film along with a selection of stills from the campaign, along with a statement that sets the tone: “One of the few remaining auteurs in contemporary filmmaking, the cult Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar is universally celebrated for his unmistakable creative imprint, distinct aesthetic and unique, 'Almodóvariano' point of view. He is an quintessence of iconoclasm, across all disciplines. " bolts.answerhop
